Canadian Casualties

There were 1543 battle casualties, of which 309 were killed in action, 1202 wounded and 32 survived as prisoners of war. In addition, 207 died from various causes such as training accidents, lost at sea, illness and in transit. A total of 516 Canadians lost their lives during the Korean War era.

This page is dedicated to those Manitobans, and indeed all Canadians, that gave their lives in Korea from 1950—1953 during the war, and from 1953—1955 during the cease fire. On the bottom left of the Cairn in Brookside Cemetery are the words, written in Korean— “Thank you Canada for your sacrifice”
